The March 2021 edition explored a wide mix of ideas for the home, including energy-efficient living, wallpaper trends, choosing the right dining table and fresh seasonal inspiration for March gardens. Readers were also invited into two beautifully designed apartments and could follow the ongoing transformation of a bedroom in the magazine’s renovation column. This varied and practical content makes Otthon & Kert a favourite among homeowners seeking stylish yet attainable guidance.

Within this issue, the spotlight turned to our Ancient Australian Redgum Bird, a handcrafted wren made from fossilised Redgum timber more than 5,000 years old. These pieces originate from ancient Redgums buried under mud and gravel as the Murray River shifted at the end of the last Ice Age. Over thousands of years, the timber absorbed minerals from the riverbed, transforming into dense, black fossil wood that polishes to a smooth, stone-like finish.

Each bird is hand-shaped in life-size form and finished with subtle accents of new Redgum for contrast. Available in both “tail up” and “tail down” poses, the wrens combine natural history with fine craftsmanship. Every piece is packaged with a velvet bag, a certificate of authenticity from the Museum of Victoria and a card telling the remarkable story of Ancient Redgum, making them especially meaningful gifts.
