Featured in FLYafrica Magazine – Issue 5 (Aug–Oct 2019)
Our Oval Trinket Boxes were showcased in Issue 5 of FLYafrica Magazine, the official inflight publication of Africa World Airlines (AWA). Published quarterly by Land & Marine Publications Ltd., FLYafrica features lifestyle, culture and regional stories for a wide audience of passengers travelling throughout West Africa.
The feature presented our Oval Trinket Boxes as elegant, contemporary pieces that combine practical storage with sculptural design. Their soft curves and refined proportions highlight both the natural beauty of Australian timbers and the skill of their maker.
Each box opens with a smooth side swing, with a subtle finger notch that blends seamlessly into the form for a clean, uninterrupted profile. The body is crafted from aromatic Camphor Laurel, chosen for its warm tone and distinctive fragrance. Lids and bases are made from select native timbers such as richly coloured Purple Gidgee, figured Flame Sheoak, or boldly patterned Conkerberry.
Inside each box, the timber name and the maker’s signature are inscribed. The entire piece is finished in a soft gloss that enhances depth, colour and grain, resulting in a refined object suited to jewellery, keepsakes or small personal treasures.
With its international readership and broad regional reach, FLYafrica Magazine provides a fitting platform for showcasing distinctive, handcrafted Australian design to a global audience.
