DESCRIPTION

The Kookaburra hunts by perching on a convenient branch or wire and waiting patiently for prey to pass by. It will then swoop down and seize the prey, famously taking snakes (often venomous species) of up to one metre in length. This hand painted and carved figure of a Kookaburra, made from plantation Hoop Pine, shows the resting but alert bird on the lookout for a tasy morsel of food. This characteristic pose of the Kookaburra; still, patient, looking out across the landscape is immediately recognisable in this skillfully realised carving which can combine with the Dinkum Laughing Kookaburra to make a fine representative pair. The carving of this iconic Australian bird comes in a neat calico bag with accompanying information, perfect for presentation.
