Welcome to the site of Australian Woodwork.

We are retailers of fine woodwork, made by Australia's leading artisans, using Australian native timbers. You can visit us at our shop in Darling Harbour, Sydney, or at our gallery in the Hunter Valley wine country, just north of Sydney.

Australia has some of the best timbers in the world, well known for their beauty and durability, encompassing a variety of colour, grain and hardness that make them suitable for many purposes - from railway tracks and bridges through to fine furniture, homewares, and delicate musical instruments. We carry it all, bar the railway tracks, and the bridge is having a new life as a dining table.

The furniture and other products we carry are all made using traditional techniques but with modern technology which will ensure their durability and longevity. Along with quality workmanship, good contemporary design is of the utmost importance in our choice of products, guaranteeing they will be cherished and kept - the antiques of the future.

The other great plus in using wood is that it is a carbon sink. Growing trees absorb carbon dioxide and this remains locked up in the wood for the life of the chair or bowl or table. An average bowl stores about 2kg of carbon, a chair about 4kg, and a dining table about 20kg. The more we use wood for our homes and their contents, the more we support the sustainable management of our forests and the planting of trees. Wood is a great choice for minimizing our environmental impact.
